Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS): On the Occasion of The 69th Anniversary of Shan State People National Day

By Restoration Council of Shan State  •  February 7, 2016

1. The 7th February of 1947 was the historic day on which our Shan leaders achieved unity among themselves; on which the Shan National Flag was raised and the Shan National Anthem sung in unison for the first time. Because of its historical significance, 7th February has been designated as Shan National Day or Shan State People National Day by the Tai people and the peoples of Shan State. And as a result of the Shan National Day, the historic Pang Long Agreement and the Union of Myanmar have come into being. Therefore, the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) sincerely recognizes 7th February as the Shan State People National Day.

2. In order to bring about lasting peace and prosperity for all the people of Shan State through federal system of governance, the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) will strive to work towards this end.

3. In cooperation with friendly ethnic armed organizations, political parties and other stakeholders, the Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) will embrace nonviolent means and engage in peaceful dialogues to solve political issues.

4. The Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) will firmly stand on the principles of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) and continue to participate in the political dialogues in the Union Peace Conference (UPC).

5. The Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) sincerely welcomes the next coming government and is waiting to see the policy and practice of the new government concerning the Peace Process, and believes that the new government will be able to work for the benefit of the people in many ways.
